LMUTH OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY TEAM SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMS COMPLEX SURGERY

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital has successfully performed a total abdominal hysterectomy on a 43-year-old female patient who had been living with large uterine fibroids for the past 10 years.

Over time, the fibroid progressively increased in size and eventually weighed approximately 5 kilograms, significantly affecting the patient’s health and quality of life.

The complex procedure was successfully carried out by a multidisciplinary surgical team comprising:
