LEVY MWANAWASA UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL COMMISSIONS INCINERATOR TO STRENGTHEN HEALTHCARE WASTE MANAGEMENT

Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital has officially commissioned and operationalised its incinerator, marking a significant milestone in strengthening healthcare waste management, infection prevention, and environmental safety at the institution.

The commissioning of the incinerator on 15th May 2026 represents a major achievement in the hospital’s continued efforts to enhance healthcare service delivery and maintain high standards of environmental and public health safety.

This milestone also stands as a remarkable farewell legacy for Dr Alex Katakwe as the National Assembly closes, reflecting commitment, delivery, and tangible progress within the health sector.

The operationalisation of the incinerator is expected to significantly improve the safe disposal of medical waste, reduce environmental hazards, and strengthen infection control measures at the institution.
