LEVY MWANAWASA UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL COMMEMORATES WORLD ANAESTHESIA DAY.
Levy Mwanawasa joined the rest of the world in commemorating world Anesthesia day under the theme “Workforce Well-being”. This event was graced by the Vice Chancellor for Levy Mwanawasa Medical University Professor Elwyn Chomba.
Professor Chomba in her speech stressed that behind every safe and successful surgical operation done at LMUTH was a skilled Anesthesiologist and critical care specialist .She further stated that these unsung heroes played a critical role in ensuring that patients underwent safe and painless surgery and ensured that critically ill patients are well taken care of in the Intensive Care Unit commonly known as ICU.
As a Hospital, the mandate of the Anesthesia Department is to provide the highest standard of critical care, ensure patient safety and uphold the values of excellence in every aspect of their work. LMUTH has 9 ultramodern operating theatres that are used for conducting surgical procedures such as caesarian sections, hip and knee replacements among others. From January 2024 to date, LMUTH has conducted 4724 surgical procedures.
As Levy Mwanawasa UTH and Medical University, we stand as the center of excellence for anesthesia services, training and research.
Just as Zambia fought for its independence and built its future, we in the medical profession continue to fight for the advancement of patient care. Our achievements at Levy Mwanawasa UTH and Medical University contribute to the highest standard of care for the people of Zambia, as we reflect on six decades of independence and look forward to a brighter, healthier future for all.
