Another Successful TURP Procedure Highlights LMUTH’s Commitment to Continuous Patient Care

Time Check: 20:49hrs | 25th March 2026
The Urology Team at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) successfully concluded another Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) procedure late in the evening, demonstrating the hospital’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality healthcare services beyond regular working hours.
The patient was admitted under the Urology Unit for definitive surgical management of urinary obstruction caused by an enlarged prostate. The team performed a Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP), a modern, minimally invasive endoscopic procedure widely used to relieve blockage of urine flow resulting from prostate enlargement.
Using advanced endoscopic technology, the surgical team carefully removed the obstructing prostate tissue through the urethra, eliminating the need for external incisions. This minimally invasive approach reduces surgical trauma, shortens recovery time, and significantly improves patient comfort and overall quality of life.
The successful completion of this procedure underscores LMUTH’s growing capacity to provide specialized urological services using modern surgical techniques, ensuring patients receive timely and effective care regardless of the hour.
